Revitalising Tai Ho Road Footbridge Through Art via Government-Business-Community Collaboration
07 May 2026
As the supporting organisation of the “Savour Tsuen Wan: A Skywalk of Flavour & Culture”, Chinachem Group is responsible for the ideation, design and installation of the displays on the footbridge. The project reflects a collaborative effort between government, the business sector and the local community to enliven public space and support district development.
With long-standing roots in Tsuen Wan, Chinachem Group (“CCG”) continues to support the development of the district through a community-focused placemaking approach. Recently, the Group became a supporting organisation of the “Savour Tsuen Wan: A Skywalk of Flavour & Culture”, inviting local award-winning illustrator Pearl Law to create an original series of illustrations celebrating Tsuen Wan’s food culture and streetscapes. The works are exhibited along the Tai Ho Road footbridge from early May 2026.
The Savour Tsuen Wan skywalk is jointly organised by the Federation of All Sectors of Tsuen Wan Community Limited, Tsuen Wan Trade Association Limited, Hong Kong Industrial & Commercial Association Limited Tsuen Wan Branch, and Hong Kong Tsuen Wan Industry & Commerce Association Ltd, with the Tsuen Wan District Council and Tsuen Wan District Office as co-organisers. As the supporting organisation, CCG is responsible for the ideation, design and installation of the displays on the footbridge. The project reflects a collaborative effort between government, the business sector and the local community to enliven public space and support district development.
The exhibition spans four sections, ending at Tsuen Wan Town Hall and passing through Sai Lau Kok Road, Tai Ho Road, Lo Tak Court, Chung On Street, Heung Che Street, Hoi Pa Street and Hau Tei Square. Each section references the distinctive dishes and landmarks of its surrounding streets. Through Pearl Law’s vivid and imaginative visual language, everyday local dishes are set in motion across familiar urban backdrops, offering new ways of seeing, and experiencing, the district’s daily rhythms.
Amy Wu, Director of Corporate Communications of Chinachem Group, said: “Tsuen Wan is affectionately known as the ‘City in the Sky’ for its extensive footbridge network, and is equally celebrated for its rich and diverse food culture. Together, these features not only provide convenience for local residents but also attract visitors from across Hong Kong and beyond. By bringing together Tsuen Wan’s iconic footbridges and vibrant culinary scene, and by transforming the footbridge from a mere space of transit to a place where people can linger, appreciate and share, we hope to showcase the distinctive character and vitality of Tsuen Wan.”
Re-imaging Everyday Encounters Through Food, Art and Movement
CCG’s support for the Savour Tsuen Wan skywalk is part of its broader, long-term engagement with Tsuen Wan through community centred initiatives. From last year’s CCG Tsuen Wan Games, to this year’s Pickleball Challenge, and more recently the Taste of Tsuen Wan Food Festival, the Group has consistently used everyday themes such as sports and food to engage residents, attract visitors, and foster interaction and exchange, contributing fresh momentum to Tsuen Wan’s cultural life and local economy.
Rooted in Tsuen Wan, Placemaking as Long-term Commitment
Headquartered in Tsuen Wan with its portfolio in the district spanning residential, retail, hotel, office and industrial properties, CCG is closely connected to the district’s development and everyday life. The Group’s recent acquisition of a site on Wing Shun Street further underscores its sustained confidence in Tsuen Wan’s future.
Amy added: “Over the years, CCG has built close relationships with residents and businesses in Tsuen Wan. Our unwavering commitment to the district is reflected in the community activities we have organised, which aim to foster emotional connections, shared memories and a sense of belonging. Looking ahead, we will continue to work with our district partners, leveraging our spaces and resources to enhance Tsuen Wan’s appeal, both economically and culturally, for the benefit of the wider community.”
Once a traditional industrial hub and now a diverse district with a mix of commercial, residential, leisure and tourism functions, Tsuen Wan tells a layered and evolving urban story. Drawing on its deep understanding of the district and steadfast commitment, CCG will continue to work with its stakeholders to support the district’s sustainable development, ensuring its distinct character and potential are fully recognised and realised.
